\n- W. side o- big grave shaft was found &\nfollowed to - NW angle, then - N side (really \nNW) also to - angle
\nAgainst - N side, towards - E angle, at level between\nlevels 120-170 above - floor o- grave, in -\nfilling, tr were found a large number o frs\no shell inlay, some w animal scenes, some \nw rosettes, many w 5 dots, & w these a\nquantity o border material : they lay loose,\napart from each other, in - soil at different\nlevels within - 120-170 stratum.\nWith these were a few beads & 3 long gold\nspacers for wide bracelets: also an elaborately\nworked group of 4 beads, gold.\nIn - E corner, at about 070 above - floor\no- grave, tr were found, in a single thin\nstratum, quantities o beads, gold lapis &\ncarnelian. At first tr were almost wholly\n[?] lapis & gold double conoids, pretty big ones:\n

then came smaller but similar beads &\nlater some leaf pendants = [?Was?] with these\nbegan very small beads in all materials = \na group o fine carnelians came pretty well\ntogether, w a lot more gold.\n2 v. large gold beads came almost together :\na number o double conoids o twisted gold\nwire also came together : but 2 v. long\ngold bugles were well separated.\n- Beads must h been thrown in to -\nfilling, & - strings were broken so t- no\norder was preserved.\nW - beads came a copper handle (?)\ndiam 007 [drawing (artifact: tool)] and a copper leg from\na piece of furniture, in\n- shape a bull's leg.\nLarge numbers o other small carn lentoids came w\na smaller propotion o small gold bugles : these clearly\nformed one string. W them, carnelian w bleached\npatterns.\n

Even - 6 quiver ends here\nin a row are not on - same level, one being\n015 below - others & slightly further out\nfrom - shaft side.\n- 2 copper bull's feet were found a long\nway apart & at different levels.\n- big gold & silver earring came from -\nupper bead level.\nIn - lower bead level - copper pan like a frying\npan, handle broken off, diam 018x022 (oval)\ndepth 004 : also many frags of broken\ncopper vessels\n
Pg 580\nof the original shaft only - N corner w - NE\n& NW sides were present : - rest had prob been\ndug away by us in 1926-7 : - exact area was\ndifficult :- to fix ; it was approx. 650NE x 450NW\n- Ht o - NW side o- shaft was still 270 above dagger level\nMany o- smaller objects must h been thrown in\nw - filling as they occurred at different depths (NB\ntr can be no real doubt that - lapis cylinder\nfound in 1926-7 does belong to - grave). In-\nfilling tr were a few frs. o a tall calcite\nspill vase ; in - N corner tr was a large pot\no red clay (broken) above - dagger level :\nmany beads (1st lot, 1927-8) were found by it.\nTwo small silh silhouette figures in shell (U9906)\nwere found 120 below dagger level by - NW wall\n& an animal shell plaque (U ) nearly as\ndeep in - same place : probably then do not really\nbelong to- burial\n<310, <220 for the sides\nTo N. corner A <335\nC <80\nF <1143\n
Pg 580\nnear one of the groups of spears were - remains\nof 2 bitumen bellums , one 037 long, the\nsecond was over a metre long but too broken\nup in - soil to be properly measured.\n of the objects seemed to be in any order\n& as they were found a few at a time as -\nwork was carried further & further into -\ncliff their relative positions are not well\nestablished ; on separate page some of the main\ngroups are shown approximately.\nNo body or remains of a body were\nfound.\nThe beads, gold ,lapis & carnelian, were\nscattered in the soil with no order at all; \nthe bits of gold band binding were\nall over the place but often several in a\nrow as if from different handles : the\ngold adze (U 9339) lay touching the 3\npieces of band probably belonging to its handle\n& 2 smaller band pieces.\n

For an area measuring some 700x400\nthere lay at a depth of almost 550 below -\nsurface two layers of matting : between these\nthe whole area was full of objects in copper\n& gold : at one end came the gold spear &\nchisels , towards- other end the gold dagger :\nbetween came beads, & everywhere there were\nspears & arrows generally in clusters as if\ncomplete quivers had been laid on the \nground\n
The silver belt was 135 long & 005 wide : \nwithout the ring width was 008 \nacross\nin - ground a film of silver lay about half a\ncentimetre or less outside - main band as if\nthe latter had had an additional plating\nwhich had been detached - this was for them\nto stand & was removed.\n
against - outside o- belt just above - handle\no- dagger were 3 gold nails against - silver but\nnot apparently fastened into it : possibly these\nhad been fastened to - outer plate.\n

All lay side by side w - points in -\nsame direction thus, & - gold one by - U9122\n[sketch (artifact: weapon)]\nside of them. The copper was in v. bad\nstate - second row o spears was larger,\n041-045 : one 054\n
The gold is 040 long.\nAbove - spears lay 2 cow's skulls.\n
