Description (Modern): NOTE in 2014. While recataloging the strands of beads, it has become clear that the cloak itself is 86 strands, which is already differing from the above description. There are two "necklaces" that are described above, accounting for 87 and 88. There is 4 strands of lapis, gold, carnelian barrel beads. Some are biconical of various degrees. This would have been worn at the top of the 86 vertical strands. The four strands, depending on mounting, hang in different orders, so this is a description of eachStrand One: 61 beads, beginning with lapis and ending with carnelian. For the most part there is a pattern of alternating carnelian with a lapis or gold bead. 16 lapis, 29 carnelian, 16 gold. Strand Two: 58 beads, beginning with lapis and ending with carnelian. For the most part there is a pattern of alternating carnelian with a lapis or gold bead. 14 lapis, 28 carnelian, 16 gold. Strand Three: Museum number on second bead from lef, the first gold beadt: 58 beads, beginning with carnelian and ending with lapis. For the most part there is a pattern of alternating carnelian with a lapis or gold bead. 15 lapis, 27 carnelian, 16 gold. Strand Four: 59 beads, beginning with carnelian and ending with lapis. Notes: When Woolley excavated the beads, he strung them according to how they were in the ground. Legrain later strung them as necklaces and gave them B numbers.
