Pg 580 near one of the groups of spears were - remains of 2 bitumen bellums , one 037 long, the second was over a metre long but too broken up in - soil to be properly measured. of the objects seemed to be in any order & as they were found a few at a time as - work was carried further & further into - cliff their relative positions are not well established ; on separate page some of the main groups are shown approximately. No body or remains of a body were found. The beads, gold ,lapis & carnelian, were scattered in the soil with no order at all; the bits of gold band binding were all over the place but often several in a row as if from different handles : the gold adze (U 9339) lay touching the 3 pieces of band probably belonging to its handle & 2 smaller band pieces.

Location Context Title Context Description Description (Modern)
PG/580 This grave was cut by Trial Trench E at the end of one season and excavation was not completed until the following season. It was a time when Woolley was only just recognizing the royal graves as a separate type in the cemetery. The wealth of objects uncovered here led him to suspect it was 'royal' but there were many problems with the condition of the grave and the circumstances of excavation that have led to confusion. After this discovery, Woolley decided to abandon the trial trench method and open the entire cemetery area. He also began to map individual graves. (none)
