Crescent shaped - single piece of metal with a V shaped shaft for receiving a wooden handle. 2 rivets, one on each side of the opening keep the shaft firm. If the object was a hoe it had a handle coming down vertically into the apex of the V, if an axe the handle was horizontal to it.
