Chrysoprase is a green variety of chalcedony that has been colored by nickle oxide.  It ranges in color from apple green to deep green.  It is compsoed of crystals so fine they are not seen as distinct particles under normal magnification.  It has a mohs hardness of 6-7 and a conchoidal fracture like flint.
