| Description (Modern): | Horizontal spout with U-shaped section. Larger than the spouts on cups such as B17541 and B17543 but similar in form. Broken into two pieces, and broken at the point of attachment to the cup or vessel. Small volute below the tip is missing. Part of a large group of vessels and fragments all with the same field number (U12485) and accession number. Spout is visible in the Woolley photograph (Ur Excavations, The Royal Cemetery, pl. 184) but appears to be attached to a ridged cup that no longer exists. Alternatively, the cup may be of the same shape as other spouted cups, but hidden in the pile of vessels. |
