Clay is a stiff, sticky, fine grained earth, mainly consisting of silicates, with traces of metal oxides and/or organic matter.  It is typically yellow, red, or bluish-gray in color and often forms an impermeable layer in the soil.  It is most known for its plasticity when wet, and can be used to form many objects.
